많은 사람들이 교회 건물에 모여서 예배드리고 헤어지는 오늘날의 교회와는 달리, 신약시대에는 평신도가 주축이 되어 집에서 모이는 교회들이 있었습니다. 이 교회들을 일컬어 가정교회라고 합니다. 서로의 집에서 모여 같이 빵을 떼며 예배를 드리고, 서로 가족처럼 삶을 나누고, 친밀한 가운데 서로 기도했습니다. 이와 같이 우리도 집에서 모이는데 이 모임을 목장모임 또는 그냥 목장이라고 부릅니다.
하나님을 믿는다는 것은 신나는 일인데, 많은 분들이 하나님과 교회에 대한 오해 때문에 선뜻 교회에 나오지 못합니다. 교회를 다니는 경우에도 설교나 지식 위주의 성경 공부만을 중시하기 때문에 신앙 생활은 힘이 없이 수동적이게 됩니다.
목장은 이런한 한계를 극복합니다. 목장에서 하늘의 가족으로서 솔직한 나눔과 구체적인 기도 응답을 통해 하나님의 은혜를 경험하게 되며, 삶의 변화가 일어납니다. 목장과 더불에 교회에 출석하여 주일 설교말씀과 삶공부를 통해 삶의 가치관 이 정립되면서 행복한 신앙생활을 시작할 수 있게 됩니다.
Unlike many modern churches today, where large numbers of people gather in a church building for worship and then disperse, churches in the New Testament era were often led by laypeople and met in homes. These gatherings are commonly referred to as house churches. In these churches, believers came together in one another’s homes to break bread, worship, share life like family, and pray for one another in close fellowship. In the same way, we also gather in homes—and we call these gatherings Home Group.
Believing in God is an exciting and joyful journey, but many people hesitate to come to church due to misunderstandings about God and the church. Even among those who do attend, faith can often feel passive and powerless when the focus is solely on sermons or knowledge-based Bible studies.
Home Group helps overcome these limitations. As a spiritual family, Home Group provides a place for honest sharing and specific answered prayers, allowing participants to experience God’s grace and witness real life transformation. By being part of Home Group and also attending Sunday worship and Life Bible Studies, people begin to build a solid foundation of biblical values and enjoy a fulfilling life of faith.
