새로운 시도가 길을 엽니다 (A new attempt opens the door)

어느 어린 코끼리에 관한 이야기입니다. 이 어린 코끼리는 5미터 되는 목줄에 묶여 있었습니다. 아직 어린 코끼리이기 때문에 목줄을 묶어 놓은 말뚝을 뽑을 힘이 없었습니다. 그래서 5미터 안에서 왔다 갔다 하면서 성장하게 되었습니다. 그러나 다 자란 코끼리는 말뚝을 뽑을 힘이 있었음에도 불구하고 여전히 5미터 안에서 왔다 갔다 하는 삶을 살았다고 합니다.  어렸을 때부터 묶여 있었기 때문에 여기에서 벗어날 수 없다는 생각에 갇히게 된 것입니다. 그래서 말뚝을 뽑을 시도조차 하지 않게 된 것입니다.

여러분은 몇미터 목줄에 묶여 있습니까? 어떤 규칙과 테두리 안에서 살아가는 것은 안정적일지 몰라도 난관을 만났을 때는 새로운 길을 열 수가 없습니다. 시키는 것만 하는 사람들은 큰 인물이 되지 못합니다. 더군다나 리더의 자리에 서 있다면 새로운 것을 시도해야 합니다. 세종대왕이 어떻게 한글을 만들게 되었으며, 이순신 장군이 어떻게 거북선을 만들게 되었는지를 생각해 보면 새로운 것을 시도하고 도전하는 일들이 얼마나 중요한지 모릅니다.

새롭게 도전하는 사람이 한 시대의 길을 열어가는 것이고, 새롭게 시도하는 사람이 자신의 삶을 개척해 나갑니다. 새로운 시도가 능력이 되는 것입니다. 우리가 살아가는 가운데 하나님께서 우리를 배고프게 만들 때가 있고, 외롭게 만들 때가 있습니다. 혹 세상이 내 마음을 몰라주는 것 같습니까? 쉽게 해결되지 않는, 아니 해결되지 않을 것 같은 문제들이 있습니까?그것 때문에 새로운 시도를 할 수 있도록, 도전할 수 있도록 인도하시는 것입니다.그래서 부족하지 않은 삶이 오히려 해가 될 수 있습니다. 왜냐하면 창조주 하나님을 만날 시도를 안하게 되기 때문입니다.

이제껏 하나님 없이 살아왔다면 새로운 시도를 해 보시기를 부탁드립니다. 그래서 세상이 알 수 없는 평안과 기쁨을 맛보며 살아가는 여러분이 되기를 축복합니다.

This is a story about a young elephant. The young elephant was tied with a rope that was five meters long. Because it was still small, it didn’t have the strength to pull out the stake holding it. So, it grew up walking back and forth within the five-meter radius. But even after the elephant had grown big and strong—strong enough to easily pull out the stake—it continued to live within that same five-meter range. Why? Because it had been tied there since it was young, it came to believe that it could never break free. It became trapped by its own thoughts and didn’t even try to pull the stake out anymore.

Let me ask you:How long is your rope? Living within certain rules or boundaries might feel stable, but when challenges come, those limits can prevent you from discovering a new path. Those who only do what they’re told rarely become people of great impact. And especially if you are in a position of leadership, you need to be someone who tries new things.

Think about King Sejong, who created the Korean alphabet, or Admiral Yi Sun-sin, who invented the turtle ship.
They changed history because they dared to try something new. Those who take on new challenges become the ones who shape their generation. Those who take bold steps become pioneers of their own lives. A new attempt becomes a new strength.

In life, God sometimes allows us to feel hungry or lonely. Perhaps you feel misunderstood by the world. Perhaps you are facing problems that seem unsolvable. Could it be that these hardships are God’s way of inviting you to try something new—to take a bold step forward? Sometimes, having everything we need can actually be harmful, because it keeps us from seeking the Creator God.

If you’ve been living without God until now, I invite you to take a new step. May you experience the peace and joy that the world cannot give—and may your life become a testimony of what happens when we dare to live differently.
